Cherie Hawkins Lamp Shades September 17th, 2018 - 04:01:39
The right amount of lighting in here and a little bit of style too and you'll see they're easy to make the wall sconces that I'm making are built in two parts. One is the shades and I'm actually going to show you how to make both of these shades, and the second part is the base here now because the base is the same for both of these. I'm going to show you how to make that first.
Now the first thing you'll need is a kind of lever light kit like this one. It just has a smaller socket than your typical lamp kit. You can get this at Home Depot for about six dollars and I really only recommend using LED light bulbs for this project. They hardly give off any heat and I don't consume a lot of energy. So that's a win-win. Now. You'll also need a 12 by 12-inch aluminum sheet like this one. It was about seven dollars and if these things on my other episodes, you know that I'm a big fan of templates and we're going to make one for this project too. It's just going to give us all the lines that we need to cut in the aluminum sheet.
Your template should be a rectangle, that's seven and a half inches wide by eight and five-eighths of an inch high. Then you draw a two and a half inch square centered along the bottom line, then draw a one and a half inch by five eighths of an inch rectangle. Lastly, draw two lines that are three quarters of an inch, long starting a half an inch from the bottom and centered and don't worry if you didn't get all the measurements down.
