Myrtle Gilbert Lamp Shades November 07th, 2018 - 10:20:57
This lampshade is made out of just regular cotton fabric with a great modern. That's really going to breathe a breath of fresh life into a regular lamp base. I've used cotton, but you can use any type of natural fiber fabric like linen silk or cotton. The best part is that this project only takes about an hour plus drying time to make this lampshade I'm using a lampshade kit from I like that lamp command the great thing about this kit is that it includes all the materials you need to make.
Your own custom lampshade at home there are different sized lampshade kits available, but today I'm using the extra large kit, which will end up making a lampshade 18 inches in diameter and 16 inches high. We have the lampshade rings, the adhesive polystyrene, which is the thick plastic, e-stop shades, and they are lap shape. A molding wand or orange stick and find the clips, and the great thing about this kit is that some of these items can be difficult to find and everything is measured out perfectly to size.
So you don't have to go hunting around for everything. What the lampshade kit doesn't include is the fabric or whatever you're, going to decorate your lampshade with. For me, I have this pretty funky gray and orange ikat print. It's a medium weight. Cotton and you'll need a piece of fabric, that's at least 20 inches by 16. Inches for this particular kit, the first step is to apply the polystyrene to the fabric, make sure your fabric is a wrinkle, free iron, it really well.
